One of China's oldest and prestigious universities, Shandong University is spearheading its academic revitalization plan into full operation to become a world-class university by the 120th anniversary of its founding. One of the earliest comprehensive universities, it is now a key national multidisciplinary university under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Education, and one of universities included in the national “Project 211” and “Project 985” for priority investment and construction.
The Center for Economic Research was established in 2001 as an extension of the Property Right Research Center founded in 1996. It is a talent training and scientific research institution working under the auspices of Shandong University, having established research strengths in the subfields of institutional economics (including law and economics & evolutionary economics) , econometrics, macro- and micro- economics, behavioral and experimental economics, financial economics and financial engineering, environmental economics, language and economics. The Center’s research output is ranked at the forefront of research institutions and occupies a leading position in China. Shaoan Huang, Distinguished Professor (Yangtze River Scholar), Ministry of Education, is the Dean of the Center.
